Day 36

Exercise: Bike/Run

Time: 1 hour 30 minutes/1 hour

Distance: 20 miles/5 miles

Two-A-Days start this week, and so far they are a real son of a gun. Turns out, running after biking was harder than I thought it would be. Imagine if your legs were made of jelly, then imagine you started running. That's what happened to me today. Just me and my jelly legs jogging along the road. Eventually I got used to it, but it was a weird adjustment.

Also as a side note, I'm not doing all this exercise so that I'll be jacked, BUT I wouldn't be mad if I began developing a a more sleek and muscular physique. Just sayin... So far I look pretty much the exact same though, so tbd if that pans out.

Day 37

Exercise: Swim

Time: 1 hour

Distance: 3000m/1.8 miles

They put a giant stopwatch on the wall at the pool, so I can see how long it takes me to swim a lap. Today, I swam every lap (50m) under a minute, which I felt pretty good about. If I can keep that pace up during the race, I should be able to finish the swim under the allotted time, which is great news.

I also learned today that I have a lot more energy if I treat the exercise like it's a race. Every lap was like a race against the clock, which was fun. Competition fuels me.

Day 38

OFF

Day 39

Exercise: Swim

Time 1 hour

Distance: 3000m/1.8 miles

It snowed yesterday, so I gave myself the day off. Today was the same as Tuesday. Also, I haven't seen a single naked old man this week, so I really don't see how things could be going better for me right now.

Day 40

Exercise: Bike/Walk

Time: 15 minutes/45 minutes

Distance: 3 miles/3 miles

Today's workout was supposed to be the same as Day 36, but plot twist: I got a flat tire on my bike. I rode for 3 miles, hit a pothole, and then had the immense pleasure of carrying my bike back to where I started. The best part was the other bikers that passed me with looks of pity. I loved that.

One guy even told me that I should really carry a spare, which made me realize that there are few things more useless than advice given too late. I smiled and said thanks for the tip, but in my mind I said very different and altogether not uplifting things...

Day 41

Exercise: Run/Swim

Time: 1 hour 30 minutes/40 minutes

Distance: 8 miles/lost count of my laps. sry.

I went to the bike store this morning where they helped fix my tire and show me how to fix it myself. Could I fix a flat tire right now? Probably not, but at least I got the general idea. The best part was being able to trade flat tire stories with the other people in the store. I really felt like one of the guys today, so that was great.

Also, I saw a naked old man in the locker room today, so I totally jinxed my good luck.

Day 42

Exercise: Bike

Time: 3 hours

Distance: 40 miles

This was my longest bike ride to date, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The guy at the bike store pumped my tires up much more than how I had been riding on them, and it made a significant difference in my ride today. I felt like I was flying...at least until the real cyclists sped past me. That was slightly demoralizing, but I'll get there one day.

One guy that passed me was wearing an Italia biking jersey, so I'm assuming he was an Olympic athlete. Whether he was actually from Italy or not doesn't matter because it makes me feel better to think that only someone of Olympic caliber could pass me as quickly as he did.
