The Slow Regard of Silent Things

I don’t really know how this book works. Actually, I don’t think this book technically “works” at all. There’s very little plot, absolutely no dialog, and I also couldn’t put it down…

Patrick Rothfuss has to be considered among the greatest world builders to ever wield a pen. In The Slow Regard of Silent Things, he’s no different. The underground world beneath the University is home to Auri, one of the most delightfully mysterious characters from The Kingkiller Chronicles, and it absolutely sucks you in

I became attached at the hip to inanimate objects and rooms I could barely even describe to you. And while Auri doesn’t say a word, by the end of the book, I would’ve done anything for her. She has a bizarrely unique few on the world and the silent things that make it up, and Rothfuss is a master at bringing that out.

Still, I don’t get this book at all. But maybe that’s the point…

There was a door, but it was terribly bashful, so Auri politely pretended not to see it.
